So what is this then? Since it&#8217;s no established term just yet, no one can really tell for sure. But here&#8217;s AnnaPS&#8217; vision:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>(F\u00d6R TEXT P\u00c5 SVENSKA, V\u00c4NLIGEN L\u00c4S NEDAN)<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SUPPORT &#8211; To always get the answers you are looking for from a competent and educated diabetes nurse or doctor. To get the most out of the time; phone calls, video calls or online chats can be used as an alternative or complement to ordinary hospital appointments.<\/li>\n<li>AVAILABILITY &#8211; Diabetes is never on a break, and it has its own will. Maybe you need to get in contact with your diabetes team at 3 AM, maybe on Christmas Eve, maybe during summer break. No matter the time,\u00a0support of some kind\u00a0should be available.<\/li>\n<li>SECURITY &#8211; Video calls and online chats shouldn&#8217;t replace the ordinary face-to-face meeting with your diabetes team when you need those &#8211; but when virtual care is performed, it should be safe. Your medical record is yours and no body else\u2019s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To put the term into an even clearer context, let us give you some examples on what virtual diabetes care could mean:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Easier for the care professionals: Whenever you come to the clinic with handwritten blood sugar curves or a pump filled with data, the doctor or nurse has to go through and evaluate it. This takes up a lot of time, time better spent on conversation with the patient and medical advice. If the data is sent virtually ahead of the appointment, the meeting time can be spent more wisely.<\/li>\n<li>No extra driving or taking time off: If you have a busy job or a long way to drive to the hospital, a visit to the nurse or doctor can take up a lot of you valuable time. Taking time off work, driving to the hospital is time demanding. Time &#8211; once again &#8211; better spent on conversation and medical advice.<\/li>\n<li>Shorter but more frequent doctor contacts: Maybe you don\u2019t really need that hour long visit at your doctor\u2019s once a year? Maybe 10 minutes at a time, 6 times a year, would be better? With the possibility of meeting your doctor online, more frequent and shorter appointments are made possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>May 23rd in Stockholm, Sweden, an event with virtual diabetes care as main focus is taking place.
