Every year ATTD takes place in Europe, ATTD stands for Advanced Technology and Treatments for Diabetes. It is a diabetes conference, where all the latest and upcoming technical equipment for diabetes treatment is presented. Additionally, doctors and companies present studies of these devices and technology, but also medications. It’s nice to see all the news and meet all these people who are so committed to the search of new technology for diabetes treatment. It will come even more exciting and fantastic equipment to facilitate life with diabetes.<\/p>\n

We feel privileged to have been invited to ATTD 2017 in Paris on 14-16 February and to participate in the Roche Diabetes Meet up with 30-40 diabetes bloggers from all around the world. Most of the bloggers have type 1 diabetes or are the parents of children with type 1 diabetes. By having these creative meetings Roche takes the opportunity to really understand the needs of diabetics, to develop products that we diabetics really need and want to use. It’s incredibly interesting to be involved in these discussions to support the development to make dealing with diabetes easier, more fun and cooler. The meeting also included a visit to the ATTD. Following you will find a short summary from ATTD.<\/p>\n

Eversense, the new CGM everyone is talking about, has an implantable sensor inserted under the skin. The sensor lasts for 90 days and the transmitter can be put on and removed easily. Right now Eversense is tested by the AnnaPS Ambassador Josefin Palm\u00e9n and would you like to see a video showing this please see the video on AnnaPS_Scandinavia Instagram from ATTD. The Eversense is sold by Roche. The measurement is based on an optical technic and is much more stable than the technic used by for example Dexcom.<\/p>\n

Regarding CGM, studies were presented showing that the number of minutes with low and high blood sugar levels are reduced drastically when a CGM is used. Research also shows that when people stop using CGM, they turn back to being outside preferred range as they were before having the CGM. This applies regardless of age and level of education. As soon as you wear the CGM you dare to take more insulin and can act earlier when you feel you are going to get out of the preferred range. It also enables a closed-loop system (where the pump and CGM operate together).<\/p>\n

Many new applications have been developed to make it possible to use your mobile or smart watch to monitor your blood sugar levels. This is unfortunately available mostly for Android, due to Apples operating system IOS being more of a closed system. We were also told that the major challenge for medical companies to link their products to our mobiles is because of the frequent updates of operating systems. It just becomes more difficult to ensure that everything works in each new version, when it is not the Diabetes companies own systems. When you think about it, it feels more stable having a unit from a diabetes equipment manufacturer guaranteeing that it works. Imagine the panic if you make an update to the phone and you can not longer control your insulin pump or monitor your blood sugar level.<\/p>\n

Obviously we had time to discuss diabetes tips with each other and also take a long lovely jogging tour in the sunrise along the Seine. What I think a lot about at such moments is that I meet a number of diabetics who tell me how burning fat is not possible with active insulin supplied to the body. This is in contrast to those who do not have diabetes. Lot of diabetics have however found the key how to burning fat is possible during long exercise and it is fantastic for the diabetes. How they do, we will tell you another time.<\/p>\n

Varje \u00e5r arrangeras ATTD (Advanced Technology and Treatments for Diabetes) vilket \u00e4r en diabeteskoferens i Europa d\u00e4r all den senaste och kommande tekniska utrustning f\u00f6r diabetesbehandling presenteras av f\u00f6retag. Dessutom presentera l\u00e4kare och f\u00f6retag studier som visar hur bra dessa utrusningar och \u00e4ven mediciner \u00e4r. Det \u00e4r roligt att se allt nytt och tr\u00e4ffa alla dessa m\u00e4nniskor som \u00e4r engagerade i framtidens teknik inom diabetes. Det kommer mycket sp\u00e4nnande och bra utrustning som kommer underl\u00e4tta livet med diabetes ytterligare.<\/p>\n

Vi har f\u00f6rm\u00e5nen att vara inbjudna till ATTD 2017 i Paris den 14-16 februari f\u00f6r att deltaga i Roche Diabetes m\u00f6te med 30-40 tal diabetesbloggare fr\u00e5n hela v\u00e4rlden. Det \u00e4r m\u00e5nga som sj\u00e4lva har diabetes typ 1 men \u00e4ven f\u00f6r\u00e4ldrar till barn med typ1 diabetes. Genom olika \u00f6vningar s\u00e5 ges Roche m\u00f6jligheten att verkligen f\u00f6rst\u00e5 diabetikers behov f\u00f6r att kunna utveckla produkter som vi diabetiker verkligen vill ha. Det \u00e4r otroligt intressant att f\u00e5 vara med i dessa kreativa diskussioner och skapande f\u00f6r att g\u00f6ra diabetes l\u00e4ttare, roligare och coolare. I m\u00f6tet ing\u00e5r ocks\u00e5 att bes\u00f6ka sj\u00e4lva m\u00e4ssan och vi har h\u00e4r gjort en kort summering av det senaste.<\/p>\n

Eversense, den nya cgm:en som har en sensor som man opererar in under huden, h\u00e5ller i 90 dagar, transmittern g\u00e5r att ta bort och s\u00e4tta dit. Om man fastnar s\u00e5 att den \u00e5ker av kan man enkel bara s\u00e4tta dit den igen, praktiskt och bra. Eversense s\u00e4ljs i Sverige av Rubin Medical . Sj\u00e4lva m\u00e4ttekniken bygger f\u00f6renklat p\u00e5 att blodsockret m\u00e4ts med ljus och \u00e4r mycket stabilare \u00e4n Dexcom CGM som bygger p\u00e5 en annan m\u00e4tteknik. Inom CGM kommer mycket och forskningen visar tydligt att antalet minuter med l\u00e5ga och h\u00f6ga blodsockerv\u00e4rden minskar stort n\u00e4r CGM b\u00e4rs. Forskningen visar ocks\u00e5 att n\u00e4r man slutar med CGM s\u00e5 g\u00e5r man tillbaka till den niv\u00e5 man hade innan man satte p\u00e5 CGM. Detta g\u00e4ller oavsett \u00e5lder och utbildningsniv\u00e5. Vi sj\u00e4lva k\u00e4nner igen oss i det. S\u00e5 fort man b\u00e4r CGM s\u00e5 v\u00e5gar man ta mer insulin samt att man hinner parera k\u00e4nningarna. Det m\u00f6jligg\u00f6r ocks\u00e5 closed loop-system (d\u00e4r pump och cgm samverkar).<\/p>\n

M\u00e5nga nya appar har utvecklas f\u00f6r att enkelt via mobilen och smart klocka kunna f\u00f6lja dina blodsockerv\u00e4rden. Tyv\u00e4rr finns detta framf\u00f6rallt till Android vilket vi f\u00f6rst\u00e5tt beror p\u00e5 att Apples operativsystem \u00e4r mer slutet. Vi fick ocks\u00e5 l\u00e4ra oss att den stora utmaningen f\u00f6r medicinf\u00f6retagen att koppla sina produkter till v\u00e5ra mobiler \u00e4r de t\u00e4ta uppdateringarna av mobilernas operativsystem, det blir sv\u00e5rt att garantera att allt fungerar i varje ny version eftersom det inte \u00e4r medicinf\u00f6retagens egna system. N\u00e4r man t\u00e4nker p\u00e5 detta s\u00e5 k\u00e4nns det mer stabilt att ha en egen enhet f\u00f6r diabetesutrustningen som tillverkaren garanterar att den fungerar. T\u00e4nk paniken om man g\u00f6r en uppdatering av telefonen och s\u00e5 kan man inte styra sin insulinpump eller f\u00e5 ut sina blodsockerv\u00e4rden.<\/p>\n

Sj\u00e4lvklart hann vi med att prata mycket diabetestips med varandra och dessutom ta en l\u00e5ng h\u00e4rlig l\u00f6prunda i soluppg\u00e5ngen l\u00e4ngs Seine. Det jag t\u00e4nker mycket p\u00e5 nu \u00e4r att jag senaste tiden tr\u00e4ffat ett antal diabetiker som ber\u00e4ttar hur fettf\u00f6rbr\u00e4nningen inte \u00e4r m\u00f6jlig med aktivt insulin tillf\u00f6rt i kroppen. Detta till skillnad mot dem som inte har diabetes. Vid tr\u00e4ning och brist p\u00e5 kolhydrater anv\u00e4nds fettreserver men inte f\u00f6r oss med diabetes och det \u00e4r en av anledningarna att vi f\u00e5r l\u00e5gt socker och beh\u00f6ver \u00e4ta under tr\u00e4ning. Jag har nu m\u00f6tt flera som testat att g\u00f6ra s\u00e5 att fettf\u00f6rbr\u00e4nningen funkar \u00e4ven f\u00f6r oss med diabetes och de \u00e4r helt lyriska \u00f6ver att de aldrig f\u00e5r k\u00e4nningar l\u00e4ngre.<\/p>\n
